We Support You, Childhood Connections

At ProducKIDvity, we are committed to supporting families and children in the Okanagan. Recent events have highlighted the challenges facing childcare providers in our community, particularly the situation of Childhood Connections Okanagan Family & Childcare Society.

Childhood Connections, a pillar of our community for 40 years, is at risk of closing its doors after losing a critical government contract to the YMCA of Southern Interior BC. This decision not only jeopardizes the essential programs and support that Childhood Connections provides but also raises broader issues about fairness and transparency in the childcare sector.

One of the most troubling aspects of this situation is how the government's decisions are impacting childcare providers, forcing them to compete for contracts that are vital for their survival. It's alarming to see organizations like the YMCA, which already receive substantial government funding, further consolidating their position in the market and potentially creating monopolies.

What's even more concerning is that some providers are signing non-disclosure agreements for $10 a day contracts, giving them an unfair advantage over others. This practice not only undermines fair competition but also raises questions about the integrity of the childcare system.

As advocates for families and children, we urge the government to review its policies and practices to ensure that they support providers who are truly dedicated to serving our communities. We stand with Childhood Connections and all other childcare providers who are facing unfair challenges and call for a system that prioritizes the well-being of our children and families.

Join us in standing against unfair government practices in childcare. Together, we can make a difference and ensure that every child has access to high-quality childcare and early learning opportunities.

Please consider writing to your local MLA and MPs to discuss your concerns over these practices:
